Amari Cooper informs the raiders whom he retires from the NFL

Large recipient Amari Cooper, a selection of five times Pro Bowl, informed Las Vegas raiders, which he intends to retire just a few days before the opening of the 2025 season in New England.
The offensive coordinator of raiders, Chip Kelly, said that Cooper called coach Pete Carroll in the morning to say that he had finished playing.
“It’s unfortunate because I think he’s a crowded football player,” said Kelly. “… but he knows in his heart what he wants to do, so I wish him the best.”
Cooper’s decision comes after signing a one -year agreement with the organization on August 26. Cooper, 31, said that the return to the Raiders – who repeated him fourth in the general classification in 2015, when they were based in Oakland – was a “full circle moment” and that he still had “juice”.
Managing Director John Spytek said last week that the team provided that Cooper had a “large game” in the Sunday match plan against the Patriots.
“He trained with us and obtained representatives,” Kelly said on Thursday. “I think for everyone, you don’t do your final [48-man game-day roster] Decisions until Saturday anyway. So we had no discussion. “”
Carroll, who played an important role in the recruitment of Cooper in Las Vegas, said that he expected Cooper to play outside while being a mentor for the recruits of which Thornton Jr. and Jack Bech.
“”[Cooper and Thornton] will do a lot of the same things, “said Carroll.” I think the Amari way can affect [Thornton] And help him come. There is a lot of pressure for [Thornton] Being the only X there with whom we are going, and therefore I think it is really well balanced. And I hope it really suits Jack and of which. “”
Cooper’s departure leaves the wide receiver room of the raids in Bech, Thornton, Tre Tucker and Jakobi Meyers, who recently asked for a business due to a contractual dispute.
Las Vegas also has Justin Shorter, Shedrick Jackson and Alex Bachman, a training camp, on the training team.
Thornton, a projected starter, said it was a “star” feeling to have been in the locker room with Cooper in a short time as they were together. He added that he had tried to ask Cooper as many questions as possible.
“One of the best receivers to do so,” said Thornton about Cooper.
In 52 career games with Silver and Black, Cooper totaled 225 catches for 3,183 yards and 19 touched. He exceeded 1,000 yards during his first two seasons. The raiders exchanged Cooper at Dallas Cowboys during the 2018 season. The Cowboys then exchanged him at the Cleveland Browns during the 2022 off -season, and the Buffalo Bills acquired him last October.
In the 14 Cooper games (10 departures) in 2024, he collected 44 receptions for 547 yards (12.4 means) and four affected.
He ended his career with 711 receptions, 10,033 reception yards and 64 affected. He managed seven seasons with at least 1,000 reception yards, including a career summit of 1,250 in 2023.
