West Ham to appoint Nuno after licensed Graham Potter

The home defeat 2-1 on Saturday against Crystal Palace was the fifth of West Ham in six league and cup games this season.

Potter replaced the Spaniard Julen Lopetegui, who was dismissed in January after six months in charge, with the 14th Hammers of the table.

“It is a proud day to be head coach of this incredible club, a great tradition, a great story, big expectations, a great challenge,” said Potter when he was appointed on January 9, 2025.

But the former boss of Chelsea and Brighton found victories difficult to find.

West Ham, who sold Ghana striker Mohammed Kudus in Tottenham for 55 million pounds Sterling in July, spent 126 million sterling pounds for eight newcomers in the summer transfer window, including the purchase of 38 million pounds sterling from the Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes in Southampton in August.

But the defeats against Sunderland, Chelsea, Tottenham and Palace have left the club in the last three. They also left the Carabao cup in the second round with a 3-2 defeat against the colleagues of the wrestlers.

This has led West Ham to publish a declaration recognizing “the results and performance in the field in the last two seasons have not complied with the standards that we set for ourselves”.

However, unhappy fans organized a demonstration against the club’s board of directors before the palace match and now the owners reacted by rejecting Potter.

Poor results on the ground have led Potter to become a viral trend on social networks, with people using AI technology to exchange his face on other celebrities, including Barbie, Donald Trump and the Chuckle brothers.

Speaking on Friday, Potter said he hadn’t taken it too seriously.

“It made my 15 year old son laugh a lot, so you have to accept what comes with [the job]”He said.

“At times [that is] Ridiculous but it is just the environment in which we are and that is what it is. “”
