Alyssa Farah Griffin identifies the ‘biggest gift’ Trump could receive before the midterm elections

After a decisive, landslide victory for Democrats on election night this week, Republicans are scrambling to figure out what went wrong. But “The View” host and former White House staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin has an answer for them — and an idea of what the president needs before next year’s midterm elections.
To kick off the day’s Hot Topics, ABC hosts mocked House Speaker Mike Johnson for his statement that all states that voted Tuesday had to go blue, so the results are actually neither surprising nor that significant. Farah Griffin was quick to point out that Virginia is “a perfect purple state” and still elected a Democratic governor.
“So I would say this: The biggest gift Donald Trump could get before the midterm elections would be if the Supreme Court ruled against his tariffs, which, right now, only increase costs for consumers,” she said.
The host reiterated how average Americans are struggling right now, amid soaring prices and a government shutdown. According to Farah Griffin, Trump fell into “a trap” that President Biden also did, and the actual numbers from election night proved it.
“What stood out to me was New Jersey and Virginia, the margins,” she said. “Both Democrats won by about 10 points. That’s significant and no one can dismiss that. But it’s the old adage: It’s the economy, stupid!”
Farah Griffin argued that Biden was also talking about the economy being healthy, but people weren’t actually feeling that in their everyday lives.
“This is happening right now. We’re a year after Trump, and he owns it,” she said. “He can’t blame anyone else. So people came in droves. The easy part is campaigning on affordability. The hard part is actually reducing costs.”
