Almost three years after the launch of DC Studios, James Gunn shares a disappointing update of the DCU video game
When DC Studios was launched publicly in early 2023, James Gunn and Peter Safran promised a shared DC universe through cinema, television, animation and video games.
The idea is that the actors will play their characters on all these mediums. It is ambitious, but leaves a bit of voice artists responsible for the emblematic performances in the animated universe DC and Arkham Video games, for example, in the cold.
Anyway, while we have been almost three years since the launch of DC Studios, we have not yet seen any video game projects materialize. They take much more time to develop than movies and television programs, but nothing has been announced for the DCU.
Gamesradar + recently talked with Gynn and asked questions about the current state of ambitious video game plans (and, although it is not entirely negative, it seems that we are for a long wait).
“There was a slight movement on different things,” The filmmaker confirmed. “We have a few small DC games that come out. But we also talked – and in the first stages of planning – bigger things. One thing in particular that fascinates me, but it takes time. There have been changes in the Warner Bros. games, and we are therefore dealing with new people.”
The changes to which he refers is a huge restructuring at the Warner Bros. games, which led to Monolith and his Wonderful woman The game put back. The first games of the players and Warner Bros. San Diego have also been closed.
During a recent conversation with Interview magazine, Gunn said what is his role in DC Studios:
“Peter Safran takes care of all difficult things. It is the guy who takes care of all the commercial aspects of everything. My work here is really like a creative force. I write, I direct, and I take care of other writers and directors on their projects and help to use them as best I can. My time is limited, so I cannot give it as much time as I would like to say. Scripts, then just try to adapt to the overall plan with all these characters.
Although we have susceptible to a ducu-set video game somewhere on the line, it looks like something like that is still in a few years. Marvel Games, on the other hand, always works on a list of titles that includes games revolving around characters like Iron Man, Black Panther and Spider-Man.
