“Who is it? Has lost his head … ‘

Surav Ganguly said that it was up to Nawaz to prove that his coach was right by saying that he was the best spinner

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly took a savage dig at Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson for claiming that Mohammad Nawaz was the best spinner in the world. Ahead of the high-octane IND vs PAK clash, the new coach attempted to play mind games with the Men in Blue by making a debatable claim. When posed with a question on his claim, Ganguly’s first reaction was to know who the player being talked about was following which he had a golden advice.

Ganguly counters Pakistan coach’s ‘best spinner’ claim

In an interview to ABP, Ganguly asked who was the ‘best spinner’ who was being referred to by Pakistan coach Hesson. The ex-India captain then remarked that it was upto the spinner to prove that the coach hadn’t lost his mind while making such a huge claim. Prior to commencing their Asia Cup campaign, Pakistan had played a tri-series against Afghanistan and the UAE. Nawaz had ended up as the highest wicket-taker in a tri-series. He also took a hat-trick and a 5-wicket haul in the final as well.

And who is that spinner. Okay. Let that spinner prove this time that the coach has not lost his mind,” Ganguly quipped.

What Hesson said before IND vs PAK

I guess the beauty of our side is we’ve got five spinners. We’ve got Mohammed Nawaz, who is the best spin bowler in the world at the moment, and he’s been ranked that over the last six months since his comeback in the side. We’ve had Abrar and Sufiyan do as well as he has,” Hesson had told reporters.

However, India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate dismissed the claim by stating that India knew how well Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel have bowled and that they don’t care about what claims other teams are making.
