“It’s hard to know who to trust… You know, I barely trust you guys.” Netflix has released the official trailer for a documentary film titled Coverthe latest feature film from the award-winning documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras (of Citizenfour, All the beauty and bloodshed). This time, she’s teaming up with a fellow documentary filmmaker Marc Obenhaus pay a visceral tribute to a fearless and tenacious journalist named Seymour Hersh aka Sy Hersh. It premiered at the 2025 Venice and Telluride Film Festivals with stops at TIFF, NYFF, Vancouver, London and more. Hersh is on the front lines of political journalism in the United States. His groundbreaking reporting brought public attention to many of the most damning constitutional wrongdoings and cover-ups. He dares to report the truth, reveal facts and follow leads when no one else will. He ventures into places he shouldn’t go, he challenges powerful people – in politics and in journalism. This is such an inspiring, moving and fascinating look into his life and reporting. I’m glad I had the chance to watch this at the Venice Film Festival because it’s fantastic and vitally important. Not only a new tribute to journalists, but also a look at the dangerousness of their work. Released on Netflix in December to watch.
