Alief picks up Campbell xirecd `Low Rider ” before edinburgh

Written by Stephen Strachan and directed by Campbell X, the film marks a return to the long story for the filmmaker based in London, whose first “Stud Life” touched the rope for British queer cinema. Produced by Rebecca Long (“The Falling”) and Stella Nwimo (“Nuclear”, “Gangs of London”) for Boudica Entertainment, the film was supported by the BFI (assigning national lottery funding), Head Gear and Lipsync films. The late Norman Merry and Peter Hampden, Kristin Irving, Phil Hunt and Compton Ross serve as executive producers.
“Playing Quinn was the craziest ride,” said main actress McDonald. “I read the script for the first time and in a week, I was on a plane for South Africa ready to start shooting. We turned everything in three exciting weeks in a misty but beautiful blur.”
McDonald added: “The actors and the team were among the most generous, the most open and the most talented people with whom I had the chance to work, and the places were breathtaking. He forged in me a true love of narration and cinema and I hope that the film will find its tribe.”
Shot on site through Cape and Western Cape, production embraces a robust and sun -bathed aesthetic. “In” Low Rider “, my goal was to take the audience during a riding walk around the Western Cape … without a seat belt,” said the filmmaker.
“It is a film that has elements of danger and desire, and it pushes the genre of the film on the road by focusing two black protagonists – something that we always see.”
The story of Quinn takes the adventure of nightlife, rural mysticism and heavy personal stories.
