Alexandria Waterfront Commission to discuss the flood project of $ 145 million at the meeting on Tuesday

Alexandria, Will. (7news) – With the rain scheduled for later this week, the Alexandria old city companies are again preparing for potential floods. However, a $ 145 million project is underway in the hope of solving the persistent problem.

Tuesday morning at the town hall of Alexandria, the seafront commission will meet at 7:30 am to provide an update on the project.

Over the next few hours, the streets are flooded, closed and the crews appear after the rain to clean the debris and pump the water in the streets.

The infrastructure of this area dates back to the 18th century. According to the city, the region deals with a number of incidents each year.

Annually, there are more than 60 incidents in rivers debit. In addition, more than 30 times a year, there is an over-trustee of the partition. Finally, there are more than 10 times a year when the temporary sewers are flooded.

Currently, the city is still in the design phase, but the next will be the construction – although some business owners fear that construction has an impact.
