Alex Mitchell: Plymouth Argyle sign Charlton Athletic Defender on loan

“This is a really important signature for us,” said Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley at BBC Radio Devon.

“Obviously, we know why we have lost the three championship games, and that’s because we concede too many goals.

“He will help in this department. We have conceded four sets – he will improve tonight – and we conceded four of the direct game. Sometimes it is only the bases of football and to direct it and clean it, and Alex will bring this to us.

“But he is more than that, he had a big role in the year of promotion of Charlton last year and it is important for me that he comes from a winning environment.

“He had a recent story of success and victory and had to win, and the more we can get people of this kind of places, the better, and it was an important part of the reason why we signed Alex too.”

Cleverley, who also seeks to sign a first choice attacker, could still add to his central defense options at home park despite the arrival of Mitchell.

“Potentially there could be another because it gives us the scope of seeing [Brendan] Galloway on the left back when we need this type of play profile, and also Kornel [Szucs] At the right back when we need this type of profile, “he added.

“So I would not be surprised if we saw another central center this window.”
