Alex Acosta finally reveals why he offered an agreement on the advocacy in Epstein

The former secretary of the American Labor Department, Alex Acosta, revealed to the supervisory committee of the Chamber for which he had offered a advocacy agreement to Jeffrey Epstein, according to a press release.
Acosta, who previously was an American lawyer for the southern district of Florida, testified on Friday before the committee on his part in the Epstein advocacy agreement. Under the 2007 agreement, Acosta negotiated, Epstein obtained the immunity of federal proceedings in the case. The agreement authorized Epstein to plead guilty to two state accusations in 2008, to serve a prison sentence, to register as a sexual offender and to compensate his alleged victims. Despite serious federal accusations which brought the possibility of a perpetuity imprisonment, Epstein never went to a federal trial and only served 13 months in prison.
A report by the Ministry of Justice concluded that Acosta had demonstrated a “bad judgment” in his management of the Epstein case as a federal prosecutor, although he found no proof of professional misconduct.

During his testimony to the Committee, Acosta noted that a central problem in the South American District of Florida of the case was whether it was to be prosecuted at the federal or local level, according to a reading of the press release from the Chamber’s supervisory committee. He testified that the statement of the Senior Lawyer underlined the evidence that could have undermined a conviction in the trial, the statement said.
Given the risks, consensus within the office of the American prosecutor was to request a negotiated resolution, according to reading.
Acosta also expressed his concern that taking the case in trial and losing could have sent the message according to which Epstein had elected the responsibility of what he was accused, allowing him to continue to commit offenses allegedly, said the committee.
He also noted that even if his office had obtained several insurances that Epstein would not benefit from the liberation of work, the county of Palm Beach finally authorized it, according to reading. Acosta testified that, if the office of the American prosecutor had been aware that the State would grant the release of the work and would not have prosecuted or to deal with the case, neither he or his office would have agreed to put him back to the competence of the State, said the press release.
He took responsibility for the decision and expressed remorse, according to reading.

Acosta, echoing former Attorney General Bill Barr, confirmed that he had never seen the name of President Donald Trump on any document or in a question related to Epstein, according to Readout. (Related: Bill Barr says that Trump has never intervened in the Epstein case, no evidence of crime)
The president of the house surveillance, James Comer, underlined Barr’s testimony that there was no evidence connecting President Donald Trump to any reprehensible act in connection with Epstein in a press release in the press release.
“To be clear: the former American prosecutor General Bill Barr said that there was no evidence of reprehensible acts of President Trump. We call on the Democrats to end these distractions and to focus rather on what really matters: transparency and responsibility,” he said.
Comer also noted that Acosta had cooperated with the committee during his testimony on Friday in the press release.
“Alex Acosta has cooperated with our questions today and has provided information that will help advance our investigation into the federal government of Epstein and Maxwell cases. This information will guide our next steps while we are working to bring responsibility, and we expect to announce a new action soon, “said the president.
He also stressed that the administration cooperates with the Epstein survey and plans to review financial files and additional Epstein Domaine.

“As I said earlier during the day, the Trump administration cooperates fully with our investigation, and we will soon examine bank files to follow the money track. (Related: legislators to question Alex Acosta on Epstein’s advocacy agreement, emit assignment to petrol)
He stressed that the priority of the committee is to discover the facts of the Epstein case, criticizing the Democrats for having “tried to make another false story on President Trump” instead of focusing on the truth.
