Alabama vs. Oklahoma: Logo disrespect ‘will be addressed’ in College Football Playoff

After Oklahoma beat Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium in November, several Sooners took time to return to the field after the game to take photos. They specifically walked across a thin rope to stand up and take pictures of the Alabama logo.

Crimson Tide players saw it and they remember it as No. 9 Alabama prepares to face No. 8 Oklahoma on Friday, Dec. 19 in Norman, Oklahoma, in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

“We understand the disrespect,” Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams said after practice Friday. “We just have to handle it with a grain of salt and get ready to go play next Friday.”

An Alabama staff member saw this happening and chased the Oklahoma players away. She told them to “be respectful.”

“We earned that B—-,” receiver Jer’Michael Carter said in response.

Alabama linebacker Justin Jefferson said Friday that if he was there when it happened, “it still wouldn’t happen.”

“This type of disrespect will be addressed on the field,” Jefferson said Friday. “We have to give it to them. We have to take the ball away from them and bring it to the house for Alabama.”

If Alabama can beat Oklahoma in the playoffs, the Crimson Tide will advance to the Rose Bowl to face No. 1 Indiana. In doing so, Alabama can also make a statement after Oklahoma’s antics over the Saban Field logo.

“It’s definitely disrespectful, but it’s kind of what you expect when Alabama loses,” offensive lineman Wilkin Formby said. “People are going to act this way. It’s not something that happens every day.”
