Alabama Star Ryan Williams issues a fan of Tennessee Jon Gruden

The receiver of Alabama Star, Ryan Williams, had an incredible first year of the Tide Crimson. He became one of the biggest young university football stars and should have an even better year in 2025. On Saturday, the writer of Tennessee Zach Ragan published a clip on X of a clip that Williams had with the former coach and fan of Tennessee Jon Gruden.

“I hate the man of Alabama. I am a man from Tennessee Vol. My wife went to Tennessee,” said Gruden.

Ryan Williams quickly responded, highlighting the advantage of Crimson Tide in the calendar next season.

“You all came to us this year, remember that,” said Williams.

Jon Gruden had a long career as a coach at the levels of the college and the NFL. Although he has not been a coach since 2023, he is still a big name in the world of football. He made his debut as a graduate assistant for Tennessee volunteers from 1986 to 1987. He met his wife during his stay there.

Gruden is now working for Barstool Sports and often publishes videos for them by interacting with university players. It seems that despite the jokes they exchanged, Gruden will encourage Williams for at least one match next season.

Ryan Williams and Alabama Crimson Tide will face the volunteers of Tennessee on October 18

Large receiver Ryan Williams and Alabama Crimson Tide are looking to win a victory over Tennessee next season. The Crimson Tide comes out of a disappointing season when they did not qualify for the university football playoffs. Part of the reason they did not qualify are because of their loss for volunteers in October.

On October 19 of last season, the volunteers welcomed the Crimson Tide. While the Alabama took an advance of 7-0 in the first half, Tennessee was able to retaliate and win 24-17. This would later lead to the qualification of Tennessee for the university football playoffs during Alabama.

The Tennessee won two of the last three games between these teams after a sequence of 15 consecutive victories of Tide Crimson. Alabama will try to return to the Victories Column next season during the October 18 match.

One of the largest determining factors in the game will probably be the performance of Ryan Williams. Although he had a solid year of the first year, recording 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight affected, he should be more a driving force in 2025.
