Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert Hough are parents!
THE Dancing with the stars Judge, 40, and his wife, 31, welcomed their first baby together, daughter Everley Capri Hough, on Monday, December 29, sharing the exciting news with a joint Instagram post. In the post, the couple shared a first look at their newborn with a black and white snap of their hands around their baby’s feet.
“December 29, 2025 Everley Capri Hough 🤍,” the couple wrote in their caption. “Every step of our lives has led us to you. Our hearts have been opened wide and our world has been changed forever.”
The couple, who married in August 2023, first revealed they were expecting their first baby together via a sweet Instagram video in late July.
In the heartwarming video, Derek walks over to his wife and the two kiss while taking in a scenic view. As the two hugged, Hayley showed a strip of ultrasound photos to the camera as the couple smiled and swayed in the sun.
“We can’t believe the biggest thing that happens to us can be so small ♥️,” the couple captioned their joint video post.
Before their newborn arrived, Derek spoke about his excitement about fatherhood on the Jennifer Hudson Show. While chatting with host Jennifer Hudson, he revealed that he sometimes forgets about the big milestone and remembers his excitement all over again.
“Sometimes I like to forget, don’t I? I do things, and I just look over there and see her working, [and] I’m like, ‘Whoa.’ I’m like, ‘I’m going to be a dad,'” he said. “And I can’t wait. I can’t wait.”
The new dad then opened up about the first time he felt the baby kick, adding that he gets “emotional just thinking about it.”
“I felt the baby kick for the first time, and it was that feeling that everyone talks about and describes, where all of a sudden everything became alive and different,” he explained. “And I’m like, ‘Whoa, I’m going to be something I’ve never done [been.] I’m going to feel something I’ve never experienced before. And I can’t wait. I can’t wait.”

In October, the couple opened up about their previous pregnancy losses with an emotional video on their respective Instagram accounts on October 15, in honor of Pregnancy Loss and Awareness Month. In the video, they wrote: “This video is a tribute to a part of our history.”
“A chapter of loss, love, celebration, heartbreak and everything in between,” the statement continued. “While we are very excited to soon welcome our rainbow, we honor our baby who never made it to Earth.”
The video then featured clips of the couple telling friends and family that they were pregnant, as well as Hayley sweetly telling Hough that he was going to be a dad alongside their two dogs. At the end, the couple included a clip of the moment they learned they had miscarried.
“There are some things in life that change you forever. For us, this is one of those things. A chapter of love, loss, heartbreak and everything in between,” they wrote in their caption.
“As it is now October, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we are sharing this part of our story to honor our baby who never returned to Earth,” the couple added. “One in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, a silent heartbreak that many families experience and that we have unfortunately had to experience. As we share this, please know that there is a rainbow not far behind. ♥️🌈.”
