Denver – Trying to settle now with the Colorado rockies, Mickey Moniak was held in front of the Philadelphia Phillies on the day of opening earlier this season and could not help wondering what could have been.
Moniak, taken by the phillies with the choice n ° 1 of the MLB 2016 MLB draft, was part of the organization for six seasons, including three at the MLB level. However, a business with the Los Angeles Angels on August 2, 2022, suddenly ended Moniak’s time with the Phillies.
While Moniak returned to Citizens Bank Park with the Angels, this year’s Philadelphia visit was a little different. Signed to a one -year contract by the Rockies, who were the opponent of the opening day of the Phillies, Moniak could adopt the whole competition that came with the start of another season at home in Philadelphia from the basic line of the external team.
“By going back this year, our second series of the year for their first home game, I somehow reflected during this ceremony of the opening day. I was a year (2022),” said Moniak. “You have seven years of your life that you spend in an organization. Same group of people, the same guys coming to the minor leagues. Obviously, miss the guys and miss coaches.”
On this opening day of 2022, Moniak was on the field but injured after being touched by a field in the last spring training match and supported a broken hand. This would keep him away from the Philadelphia range until May 30. Strike at only 0.130, Moniak was exchanged in the angels less than two months later as part of the agreement which landed Noah Syndergaard in the city of fraternal love.
Moniak was released by the Angels on March 25 and signed by the Rockies one day later, the agreement meeting quickly thanks to his long relationship with the director general of the Rockies, Bill Schmidt.
While Moniak, 27, may not have had the impact with the phillies that the franchise hoped when they drafted it, he always appreciates his time with Philadelphia.
“The organization was only good for me, and I only have respect for this organization,” said Moniak. “They do it in the right way. I’m just grateful to having spent this time there.”
