After a month of research, the father accused of having killed 3 girls could still be alive, says the expert

It has been almost a month since Travis Decker was on the run after allegedly killed his three young girls near a campsite in Washington’s state, and that at least one expert told ABC News that he thought that Father Fugitive is probably still alive and “will end up surface”.
Paitact Decker, 9 years old; Noylyn Decker, 8 years old; And Olivia Decker, 5, were killed after leaving the house for a “planned visit” with Decker around 5 p.m. on May 30, officials said. Around 3 p.m. on June 2, officials located the bodies of the three girls and the Decker vehicle near the Rock Island campsite in Chelan County, Washington.
Almost a month later, the manhunt of Decker, an army veteran, continues.
Three young sisters in Washington, Olivia Decker, 5, Paitact Decker, 9, and Evelyn Decker, 8 who had not been seen since they left the house for a visit planned with their father were found dead, according to the Wenatchee police service.

On Monday, officials said that “there is no evidence that Decker remains alive” or in the vicinity after “apparently strong early tracks have given way to less convincing evidence in the past two weeks of research”.
“We cannot and will not leave this research,” said County Kittitas Sheriff Clay Myers in a press release. “PAITYN, Evelyn and Olivia Decker deserve justice. DECKER remains a danger to the public as long as he is free.”
But Todd McGhee, an analyst of the police and security forces and former soldier of Massachusetts State, told ABC News that he thought that Decker is alive, especially since dogs had “not taken up on any type of corpse or any type of presence of a deceased body”.
“Dogs are trained to search for corpses and sniff for these types of smells, so it is still in motion,” McGhee told ABC News.
McGhee said he was thinking that Decker may have “left the United States”, degenerating research in an “international manhunt”. An affidavit previously revealed that Decker’s Google research in the murders included “how a person moves to Canada” and “how to move to Canada”.
Decker has probably been able to escape the police for so long because of his military training, which allows him to “sail with limited resources in the desert,” said McGhee. The sheriff of the county of Chelan, Mike Morrison, previously declared that the father of Decker had revealed that his son was known to go out and live “out of the grid” up to 2 and 1/2 months.

Since he managed to hide civil servants for a long time, McGhee said that Decker could have developed an escape plan, allowing him at least time to “treat everything himself [and] Standing trial. “”
McGhee said that Decker “will probably take advantage of each element” from his military experience, but said he thought he would end up surface “.
“He will eventually have to surface by looking for a shelter, looking for food, nutrition – these types of things will force him to hide and, to some extent, to expose himself to the general public,” said McGhee.
No matter where Decker can be, McGhee said he was “confident” that research efforts will lead to a form of closure.
“I am convinced that something should prove to a resolution as to the place where its existence is and, hopefully, capture and arrest,” McGhee told ABC News.
What we know about the death of Paitact, Evelyn and Olivia Decker
On May 30, Decker picked up the girls, spoke to his ex-wife, Whitney Decker, for about 15-20 minutes, then left, according to Arianna Cozart, the lawyer of Whitney Decker. While Whitney Decker had custody of the children, Travis Decker received visits to see the children for three hours on Friday and eight hours every two weekends, as long as he stayed in the Wenatchee valley with the girls, Cozart told ABC News.
“He said: ‘Hey, I will see you at 8 [p.m.]”And he left, and he never returned,” said Cozart.
Whitney Decker contacted the police that evening with a civilian complaint, saying that she had not heard of Travis Decker and that he had not brought the girls home at their scheduled time, officials said.
The detectives later learned that Travis Decker and his daughters did not arrive on Saturday at a “planned 5 km race event”. The officials believe that Decker went to the campsite where the girls’ bodies were found on May 29 and returned the next day with his three children, according to legal documents.

The County Sheriff’s Bureau of Chelan published a new suspicious leaflet for Travis Decker on June 17, 2025.

When the girls were missing, the investigation had not met Amber alert criteria, officials said, but an an alert of missing persons disappeared had been issued through the Washington State patrol.
When the girls’ bodies were discovered, there were plastic bags above everyone’s head and their wrists were attached to the zipper, according to court documents obtained by ABC News.
Around Decker’s Vehicle, the deputies located zipped links and plastic bags “scattered throughout the region”. The truck tailgate had what seemed to be “two blood fingerprints”, according to court documents.
An autopsy determined that the girls had been suffocated, said on June 9 of the County Sheriff Bureau of Chelan.
Decker’s mental health difficulties, SSPT
Travis Decker had struggled against mental health problems, including the SSPT, and could not have access to the aid thanks to veterans’ resources, said Cozart.

The County Sheriff’s Bureau of Chelan has published photos of Travis Decker in a desired poster.

“The courts did not fail these girls. It was not the judge and it was not Whitney; it was our system,” said Cozart. “”[Whitney] One has the impression that the system really dropped Travis. If someone had provided Travis with the help they needed, these girls would be alive. “”
During a commemorative service for girls last weekend, Whitney Decker briefly spoke for the first time since the death of his daughters. She said the girls had “warm and open hearts”.
“I am so grateful for the time that I had with girls. I really hope that the heritage of girls’ life lives in everyone’s heart forever. They were incredible,” Whitney Decker said during the memorial on June 20.
Decker, which is described as 5 feet, 8 inches high with black hair and brown eyes, was seen for the last time wearing a light shirt and dark shorts, the police said, and a new suspicious leaflet was released by the authorities on June 16. He is currently wanted for three heads of first degree murder and three kidnapping chiefs, police said.
The officials said that anyone with information on Decker or who knows where he is should call 911 immediately.
