After 28 years, Sigourney Weaver is finally ready to return to the Alien franchise

If you are someone who loves Stranger and the franchise that was built by Ridley Scottthe work of, the NYCC panel is made for you! On Friday October 10, fans were able to share an experience that will not go unnoticed. Josh Horowitzhost of Happy Sad Confused podcast, organized a panel with Stranger star and icon Sigourney Weaver speaking about her work in the franchise as well as the roles that made her the icon she is today. The panel was described as follows: “Join film legend Sigourney Weaver as she sits down with Happy Sad Confused’s Josh Horowitz to discuss her work in the legendary ALIEN films as well as her other iconic sci-fi roles. And… hinted that we might see her in action again!

The panel was a retrospective on Weaver and her work in the science fiction genre and she is one of the best to ever do it. Characters like Ellen Ripley in Stranger and the following franchises were rare at the time and became staples of the genre. So I learn to hear what Weaver what I had to say about Ripley and her collaboration with Scott and the directors like James Cameron And David Fincher throughout the franchise. And what Ripley as a character means to fans.

Horowitz and Weaver spoke about Ripley’s future and how the producer Walter Hill wrote pages about the character’s whereabouts. “[‘Alien’ producer] Walter Hill is a very good friend of mine, and he wrote 50 pages about Ripley’s current situation, and they’re pretty extraordinary,” Weaver on stage. “I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I had a meeting with Fox or Disney… I never felt the need to. [to reprise the role]. I always told myself, “Let her rest, let her recover.” » What Walter wrote rings very true to me, especially about society imprisoning someone who tried to help humanity, but she’s a problem to them, so she’s sort of ostracized. I think it’s a very solid first 50 pages. I’m thinking of working with Walter to see what the rest of the story would be.

Weaver is the kind of actress who has a legacy for her work. We all know Ghostbusters and his comedic work but for many, our love began with Ripley. We saw how she was the “final girl” in Scott’s film and then carried the franchise on her back. But the 1979 film was something special for the fans. It would have been so easy to let Ripley be a victim, but in the end she becomes the hero and that’s why we love her.

You can celebrate Weaver’s work by watching Stranger yourself!
