Adam Schiff talks about the “climate of fear”

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Started Thursday with the host announcement of the bomb that CBS cancels the show, in force next May.

This was not addressed in his interview with Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA), even if the Trump Nenènesis addressed the success of the president to create what he called a “climate of fear”.

“He wants to scare law firms,” Schiff told Colbert. “He wants to scare universities. He wants to scare immigrants. He wants to scare citizens. He wants to scare press organizations, CBS and Paramount. He wants to scare ABC. And he succeeds. ”

Later, Schiff approached CBS’s decision to cancel the end of the program, writing on X, “I just finished recording with Stephen Colbert who announced that his program had been canceled. If Paramount and CBS ended the late program for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better. ”

CBS said the issue was canceled for financial reasons. But very shortly after the announcement, it is quickly suspected that it could have been connected to the merger waiting for a global paramount parent with Skydance. The transaction needs regulatory approval from the Trump administration, and Colbert’s humor is often addressed to the president.

Already, a certain number of Democrats in Capitol Hill have criticized Paramount Global for having reached a colony with Trump on his 60 minutes trials against CBS for $ 16 million. Colbert joined them earlier this week, laughing in a monologue earlier this week on what he called the “big bridge-bridge” of paramout to the president.

After Colbert’s announcement that her show obtained the ax, senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was linked to the host’s previous monologue and wrote on X: “CBS canceled the Colbert’s program only three days after Colbert called the mother company of CBS Paramount for its $ 16 million program with political reasons.” Pramila Jayapal representative (D-WA) has displayed a similar note.

In Colbert’s interview, Schiff also criticized the package of expense discounts – known as attractions – as a sign that Les Républicains du Congress abandoned Trump. The last passage of the package, which withdraws funding from foreign aid and NPR, as was the interview.

“They fear losing their own personal power, that is to say their own personal office <'Schiff said about the GOP legislators.

“Some of them have said they are worried about their own personal security,” said Colbert.

“That too, that too,” said Schiff.

“You cannot find a member of the Chamber or the Senate who has not obtained death threats,” said Schiff. You probably cannot find many that have not obtained death threats against their spouses, against their children. »»

Schiff said these threats have accelerated considerably under Trump, but he suggested a way to respond.

“All this is part of a deliberate campaign to scare people to submit,” said Schiff. “And the only way to make the flagship is to say:” Piss. Piss. »»
