About Pips, the latest game from the New York Times: exclusive

Wordle fans, connections and more can prepare for a new game from the New York Times: PIPS.

PIPS is the very first original logic puzzle of Times, the newspaper said in a press release. In the game, players use dominoes to meet specific conditions on the game board.

The new exclusive to the launch of the puzzle has been broadcast exclusively today on Monday, August 18, and the game will be launched worldwide around 12 noon.

“With the pips, we wanted to create something that seemed fresh but familiar. Dominoes evokes nostalgia for many people, and we have looked into this comfort while adding our NYT games in Nyt in Twist,” said Jonathan Knight, New York Times Games, in a press release.

“It is also the first game in our collection to include the drag and drop gameplay and an interactive” How to Play “experience, which makes it our most tactile and accessible game,” added Knight.

To play the pipes, the players will first have to fill the domino table, said the Times. Then they can drag and place the dominoes in place. To run the dominoes, type them and turn them.

The players will discover that each region of the table has a condition.

“It could be that the two domino values must be equal (=), not equal (≠), greater than (>), less than (<), or will add up to a specific number," said the Times. "Some regions have no condition at all - just a place and leave."

Once all the dominoes have been placed and each condition has been met, the players won pips for the day.

Times also introduced difficulty levels for PIPs, so that players can choose between easy, medium and hard daily puzzles to find the right amount of challenge for them.

To celebrate the launch of PIPS, players from the New York region can stop at Pips, a comfortable wine bar in the Brooklyn Heights district which is also a favorite meeting place for the actor of “Abbott Elementary” and the superfan of Times Chris Perfetti games, according to the press release.

Solvents based in New York can stop in Pips from August 28 to 30 to enjoy a specialized drink organized by Perfetti himself and to play together in real life.

In addition, if a player solves any level of the pips of the day, he can show his bartender and mark a free cocktail.

“This is our way of giving life to the game and saying thank you to puzzle lovers who inspire us every day,” said Times. “Whether you are a professional or new domino, Pips is easy to pick up and difficult to repress.”

PIPS will be available to play on the application of New York Times Games on iOS or Android, or on mobile or office browsers, from 12 noon on August 18.
