Do not leave the cat or book a rock climbing getaway if you haven’t looked at “The Girlfriend”. Spoilers to come!

If you like Olivia Cooke on the prequel and spin-off of “Game of Thrones” and the spin-off “House of the Dragon” and you can’t wait to look at it in a different and more modern role, you are lucky-its mini-series “The Girlfriend” recently fell on Amazon Prime Video.

According to Streaming Tracker Flixpatrol, the series absolutely crushes it with viewers, so what is it first? Based on the book of the same name of Michelle Frances in 2017 (which, if you are subscribed, is available on Kindle Unlimited), the story focuses on the Sanderson family, led by the Matriarche Dominering Laura (“The Princess Bride” and “House of Card” Star Robin Wright). To say that Laura has a strange relationship with her son Daniel (Laurie Davidson, who appeared in small roles in “Masters of the Air” and “Mary & George”) is a massive euphemism; After Laura and her husband Howard (Waleed Zuaitter) lost their first child, Rose, when she was only a baby, Laura becomes incredibly attached to Daniel. Fortunately for Laura, Daniel does not have many serious friends, which is why Laura is so shocked when he brings back a new flame at home, Cherry Laine (Cooke), and describes their relationship as serious.

It is Also Euphemism to say that Laura and Cherry Butt heads while they are fighting for the attention and affection of Daniel throughout the series of six episodes of “The Girlfriend”. I would also say, after watching the series, that it is a soapy, Campy and slightly artificial vision of the classical history of the “nasty mother”. So what’s going on in “The Girlfriend”, and what happens to the character of Cooke Cherry?

When Cherry meets Laura for the first time, she immediately understands the very narrow relationship between Laura and Daniel, but made her “better” to adapt to it – and by her “best”, I mean that she launches the beloved cat of Laura, Moses through a window and steals a piece of her jewelry. The rivalry between the two women is immediately obvious, honestly, each person involved in the situation, with the exception of Daniel. (Blessed her heart.) After Cherry says she has attended an exclusive preparatory school in London, Laura dug and discovers that Cherry has never attended school; To make things worse, Laura sees Cherry slaps a man on the face in the street, who turns out to be the ex-girlfriend of Cherry, Nicholas Hale (Leo Suter). (Cherry also pretends to be a wedding caterer and hides a lamb core inside the Nicholas wedding cake before her wedding to come, so he is sure that she is not exactly stable.)

The conflict between Laura and Cherry continues to hear themselves throughout “The Girlfriend” and made the head when, after Cherry and Daniel made rock for his birthday and that he is seriously injured, Laura lies in Cherry and says that Daniel died. While Laura takes Daniel to Spain to recover, Cherry finally discovers that her boyfriend – or, technically, the fiancé, considering that he immediately offered her before his accident – is still alive. This is obviously a whole well worse Between Cherry and Laura, who continue to fight for Daniel – who is almost always perfectly aware of his mother and his partner in the running for his love – until he is built at a really disturbing conclusion. (I’m going to leave the end of “the girlfriend” preserved for anyone who wants to check it for itself.)

“The Girlfriend” is completely exaggerated and unrealistic, and despite a script which is often a little thin, Olivia Cooke, an accomplished artist, is excellent as a cherry, which she seduces Daniel or confronts Laura. Cooke is particularly excellent in small subtle facial expressions, which helps prevent the cherry from becoming a total caricature. If you like this Cooke performance, however, you should certainly consult “House of the Dragon”.

Cooke has been in many great films throughout her career, but these days, she is probably better known for playing Allay Hightower on “House of the Dragon”. Cooke does not really join the series until the half of its first season; Due to a ten -year temporal jump, Alicent is initially played by Emily Carey alongside Milly Alcock as a best friend and confidant, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, apparent heiress to the throne and the only child of King Viseys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine). While Alicent is still played by Carey, she trains and marries Viedy after his wife and Rhaenyra mother Aemma (Sian Brooke) die, leading for good a huge corner between Alicent and Rhaenyra.

After this time jumping, which occurs exactly half season 1, Alicent and Rhaenyra are in disagreement, especially because Alicent seems too aware that Rhaenyra children are not generated by her husband Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan). (Alicent, to be right, is right; because Laenor prefers the Company of Men, he and Rhaenyra have an arrangement, and his first three children are secretly generated by Ryan Corr, Ser Harwin Strong.) Viscounts, the elderly and fragile now, deaths, and his last words referring to “Aegon” literally start the Civil War Targaryan known as Dragons. Alicent, sure that the visitors meant that their eldest son Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) should take the throne even if Viscounts named Rhaenyra as his heir, takes up arms and becomes the de facto chief of the green faction. Rhaenyra, aware that his father probably referred to the “Song of Ice and Fire” prophesied by Aegon the Conqueror, crowns the queen and leads the black faction of the iron throne.

Cooke is truly phenomenal as the powerful and sometimes malicious in “House of the Dragon”, and fortunately for “The Girlfriend”, she also brought to this series. “The Girlfriend” is in trouble on Amazon Prime Video, and “House of the Dragon” is streaming on HBO Max.
