Local heroes: how Huawei and Deepseek help China relax in American fleas

When the start-up of Chinese artificial intelligence Deepseek unveiled a fundamental model updated at the end of August, Nvidia investors were amazed. The actions of the American flea giant have slipped, while market observers faced the news that the two-year start-up, which developed models rivaling with the best in the world, turned to the support of the chips produced in the country.

Adding to their concerns, Deepseek was not alone in his effort to empower China’s AI ambitions without counting on American technology.

Last week, Huawei Technologies – The Chinese company at the forefront of the country’s technological self -applied campaign – presented the latest offers from its Ascend Chip series and unveiled equipment designed to provide world -class calculation power without using Nvidia processors.

He marked the first time that the company had disclosed the details of its roadmap for fleas because it was put on black list by the United States in 2019 for national security problems. As confidence in local technological frames, Beijing urged the country’s technology giants to stop buying fleas that Nvidia has adapted to China, which were designed to comply with American export restrictions.

Together, Huawei and Deepseek have become symbols of China resilience, showing how American trade borders have sparked a wave of innovation in the national AI industry that allowed Beijing to gain ground in its technological rivalry with Washington.

With the American restrictions acting as a thrust factor and the China of self -sufficiency serving as a factor of attraction, “Deepseek will seek alternatives for fleas,” said Gary NG, director and main economist of Asia Pacific at Natixis Corporate and Investment Bank. “As a national champion, Huawei will play a major role.”
