From Davie to Pembroke Pines, a number of Broward county communities were affected by a considerable amount of rain in a short time.

The storms were sufficient to trigger flood notices across the south of Florida which remained in force throughout the afternoon.

They also caused general delays at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The officials said that 89 flights were delayed and 29 were canceled because a ground stopping had been ordered for the flights which leave in the middle of thunderstorms.

It was a story similar to Miami International Airport, where passengers were welcomed with more delays and canceled flights, just trying to go home.

“We cross our fingers that we will really do because, otherwise, we will be stuck here for the night and we have to wait in another line, and it took us two hours to change our flight in the first place,” said a passenger in Mia.

Miami international airport officials said on Monday afternoon there were 181 flight delays and 47 cancellations, mainly due to the weather.
