I’m glad that Apple TV + has not forgotten the tragic events of the final of season 4

It has been less than a year since Slow horses The final of season 4 and the detectives banished from Slough House are as slow to recover from these tragic events as the public. On the surface, few things have changed with our courageous but unhappy agents, but episode 1 reveals that the events of the previous season have left major holes in the confidence and mental health of the team of Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) of Donkeys. Slow horses enter the chaos directly and maintains a regular striking rhythm through the second episode while pulling us in an expert manner in a captivating plot that has the members of Slough House directly in its reticle. Lamb is the only one to operate on its full capacity, all the others dealing with events from previous seasons, healthy or unfortunately. This lack of concentration could not happen at a time for Mi5 and Slough House, but it’s great for us, and episodes 1 and 2, “bad dates” and “incommunicodo”, passing, letting us want more.

“Bad dates” opens on a blunt and brutal mass shot, shocking in its simplicity. An unnamed man only needs seconds with his large caliber rifle to murder 11 innocent. There may not be a lot of blood, but seeing the man point deliberately and shooting someone in the background that falls soft, is a nauseating feeling. He is not an expert, and he is frightening how simple it is to initiate a disaster. The only real gore moment comes when a ball removes the top of the shooter.

His killer jumps into a van, which does his best to crash into Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung), dancing and turning in London on his way to work. He saved in time by Shirley Dander (Aimee-Fion Edwards), but nobody believes her when she said that the car was definitely aimed at Roddy. It is not only the usual laziness of Slough House. If a MI5 agent is targeted, the state headquarters must be alerted. Never of the type to let dogs enter, Jackson affirms his private concerns while publicly claiming that Shirley is delusional.

Shirley turns out to be right, and it is only with the intervention of the lamb that Roddy survives an attempted life. The assassin fled alive but not unscathed. His partners in crime are not too jazz on how Shirley saw his face, however, and he finds himself a burned corpse on the side of the road.

We are not sure who these men are, nor who are the young British guys who buy them a kind of explosive, but Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) cannot be maintained for a long time. At the end of “incommunicodo”, Slough House is on locking until she discovers what is happening.

Slough House is in good shape as rough as ever, but far from feeling like a recutation, Slow horses Is not afraid to stick to what makes him unique. Few shows weave competing scenarios so effectively, stopping and starting as our attention decreases. Even brief crumbs on male rage and violent rhetoric inspiring violent political acts are intelligently, but clearly woven. Slow horses Season 5 is ready to be another excellent episode in the series.
