Stephen King, although a greatly famous master of horror, sometimes has a wobbly taste in films. “Together” tells the story of Millie (Brie) and Tim (Franco), both in mid-Tentaine and confronted with a crossroads. Tim has long tried to make a living as a musician in Seattle, but has reached the age when continuing to be a Rock Star in difficulty is no longer cute. He and Millie now plan to move to a home remote in a rural area which is very far from Tim’s music sites, but right next to a picturesque teaching position for Millie. So, of course, there is a lot of tension between them during this decision, and none seems able to fully express their disappointment in their continuous relationship. How and stay together, or do they cover and run?
Then, by hiking in the woods one day, Millie and Tim fall into a forget. There, Tim drinks in a mysterious water police and seems to absorb a kind of supernatural property, which makes him and Millie is strangely linked. When one of them moves, the other does it as well, because the pair is psychically pushed towards the other … insofar as, when they touch, their skin begins to merge. It takes them a while to understand what is going on, but it takes long before the two realize how weird and twisted their situation has become.
Yes, symbolism is pretty on the nose. Horror fans may note that this vanity of the skin is very similar to the scenes of “Shunting” in the satire’s society of Brian Yuzna in 1989. The tracks of “Together” finally take place in an emotional journey, but it is an illustrated through the literal fusion of their flesh. The film is a hoe and plays like an episode of “Tales from the Crypt”. He even refers to the history of Plato on the origin of love, which will appeal to fans of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”.
“Together” also has a fantastic final shot that raises new possibilities. King can have strange tastes, but he is right about it. You can see for yourself by consulting it in theaters.
