You cannot be selfish – the former Spanish goalkeeper explodes Ter Stegen and says that he should lose the captain of Barcelona

Former Spanish goalkeeper Santiago Canizares says that Marc-André Ter Stegen should be stripped of the Barcelona captain while the row on the player’s medical status.
The boss of Barça Hansi Flick is expected to meet the club’s board of directors today to discuss TER Stegen’s position as one of the leaders of the first team after the German’s refusal to sign a consent form that would allow the club to share its medical report with the Liga.
Barça claims that the recent Ter Stegen back operation will keep it away for four months – a deadline that would mean that it is classified as a long -term injury by La Liga and allow the club to release a salary space to record the new signature of Joan Garcia. Ter Stegen, however, believes that he will be sidelined for three months.
Ter Stegen Row overshadowed Barcelona preparations
The repercussions have dominated the agenda in Catalonia in recent days and Canizares, which won 46 caps for Spain between 1993 and 2006, estimates that the 33 -year -old should be sanctioned for his behavior.
He told Cadena Cope: “A captain represents the players in a game and at the negotiating table against a bonus problem or a conflict.
“You cannot be lazy, create a bad atmosphere or be selfish. You have to give an example. He must inspire everyone to be engaged and give good performances, to be a team, to give good vibrations and to try to resolve conflicts with the club or the teammates.
“But of course, if you create the conflict … If you have an open war with the club, he does not make sense for this player to be the captain. It’s just the opposite, the captain would now be there to resolve the conflict of Ter Stegen.”
His behavior is like that of many Germans – Canizares
Canizares, who came to Real Madrid but became the first goalkeeper in Valencia, with whom he won two Liga crowns and reached two finals of the Champions League, is not surprised by the conduct of Ter Stegen.
He added: “When he did not play, his behavior left a lot to be desired, like many Germans who have this behavior.
“We, goalkeepers, are selfish because if we are not entries, we do not play all year round.”
Ter Stegen’s back injury was a blow for Barça, which hoped to unload it this summer. The former man of Borussia Monchengladbach has a contract until 2028 and suggested that he wanted to honor him after his return in great shape.
The Spanish champions now have three high -level goalkeepers in their ranks, with Ter Stegen and Garcia in competition with the veteran pole Wojciech Szczesny.
