Rangers vs Viktoria Plzen – BBC Sport – Live – Champions League – TV, Radio, Updates, Statistics and Tête -à -Ture

Rangers’ head coach Russell Martin said his team must lose their mentality of “self-preservation” and accept the requirements to play for the club while they are preparing for a crucial qualifier of the Champions League against Viktoria Plzen.
The boss of Ibrox gave a scathing post-match post-match of the draw on his side with Motherwell in their first Scottish Première match this weekend, but hopes that his players will be able to fully take his message, insisting that it came from a “place of love”.
The third equality of the Rangers qualification round against the Czech team will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland.
Martin deplored the application and strives from his team to Fir Park, saying that his team’s problem was a “mentality problem”.
When asked if it was a case of hard love for the players, he said: “I think that if they know us now as a group of coaches staff, all this comes from a place of love, really, and to take care of them.
“I don’t go out and I don’t say because I want to be ruthless and all that. If they know me as a person, the people who know me, they know come from a place of love and help them, to want them to be better.
“So I think that when you come from this place, everything that is said, if they understand this, then we always have a really honest and good conversation on this subject, and I think and I hope they understand who we are now and what we are here to do.
“And I really think they really try, and it’s just this behavior learned and this defect, and we have to change a little because they are really good human beings.
“So these are good people, but the default is to try to protect you when it becomes difficult, we just have to change a little.”
The Rangers start another big week for the club after obtaining an appointment in the third round of the qualification champions league when they saw Panathinaikos last week.
Martin was not concerned about his comments which then followed the game at Fir Park having a harmful effect on his side, but insists that if players shrinked under pressure, then they should not expect to be part of his team.
“I think that if it has a harmful effect on some people, they are probably not the ones we want to come with us,” said former Rangers defender.
“So, I think that if it has a harmful effect on you and that it hurts you to the point where you feel singled, then there is probably a problem with you being everything in this place and this club and with us.
“I do not worry that it is detrimental to the team.”
