Doctor of Trump Harold Bornstein says that Bodyguard, the lawyer “attacked” his office, took medical records

In February 2017, a better assistant from the White House who was Trump’s long -standing personal bodyguard, as well as the best lawyer for the Trump organization and a third man, presented themselves to the New York doctor’s office in Trump without notice and took all the president’s medical records.

The incident, which Dr. Harold Bornstein described as a “raid”, took place two days after Bornstein told a newspaper that he had prescribed a medicine against hair growth for the president for years.

In an exclusive interview in his Park Avenue office, Bornstein told NBC News that he felt “violated, frightened and sad” when Keith Schiller and another “Grand Man” came to his office to recover the president’s files on the morning of February 3, 2017. At the time, Schiller, who worked for a long time as Gulicuard de Trump, was director of oval operations at the White House.

“They had to be here for 25 or 30 minutes. It has created a lot of chaos,” said Bornstein, who described the incident as scary.

A photo framed by 8 by 10 of Bornstein and Trump which was hung on the wall in the waiting room is now flat under a pile of papers on the upper shelf of the Bornstein library. Bornstein said the men asked him to remove him from the wall.

Bornstein said he had not received a form authorizing the publication of files and signed by the president known as the Liberation of Hipaa – which constitutes a violation of the Patient Privacy Act. A person familiar with the case said there was a letter in Bornstein from the doctor of the White House, Ronny Jackson, but did not know if there was a liberation form.

“If Ronny Jackson was the attending physician and he asked for his patient’s paperwork, a doctor is forced to give him to ensure the continuity of care,” said NBC News medical correspondent, Dr John Torres, “but he must be given safely. Nobody who has no Hipaa authorization can see patient files.”

NBC News legal analyst Danny Cevallos said that patients generally have their medical information, but that the initial file is the property of the supplier. “New York’s state law requires a doctor to retain files for at least six years, so a doctor who puts his original archives covers the risk of rape the New York State law,” said Cevallos.

Bornstein said that the original and unique copy of Trump’s graphics, including laboratory reports under the name of Trump as well as under the pseudonyms used by his office, was taken.

Another man, the legal director of the organization of Trump, Alan Garten, joined Schiller’s team at the Bornstein office, and the wife of Bornstein, Melissa, photocopied his business card.

A Garten spokesperson said that Bornstein “had voluntarily put Mr. Schiller’s medical records” at the request of the White House. “The hand, which occurred well more than a year ago, was peaceful, cooperative and cordial. Before handing over the files, Dr. Bornstein was informed of the reasons for the demand and willingly comply.”

Schiller, who left the White House in September 2017, did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

Asked about Hallie Jackson of NBC News on Tuesday afternoon, the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said that taking possession of medical records was “a standard operational procedure for a new president” and that it was not correct to characterize what happened as a “raid”.

“These files were transferred to the White House medical unit, as requested,” said Sanders.

I could not believe that anyone who was doing a big problem of a drug to grow his hair that seemed so important.

Bornstein said Trump had cut bonds with him after telling the New York Times that Trump took Propecia, a drug for extended prostates that is often prescribed to stimulate hair growth in men. Bornstein told Times that he also prescribed Trump drugs for rosacea and high cholesterol.

The story also quotes Bornstein recalling that he had said to Rhona Graff, Trump’s long -standing assistant, “You know, I should be the White House doctor.”

After the article took place on February 1, 2017, Bornstein said that Graff called him and said: “So you wanted to be the White House doctor? Forget it, you came out.” “”

Two days after the article was broadcast, the men came to his office.

“I could not believe that someone was doing a big problem of a drug to grow their hair that seemed so important. And it was certainly not a violation of medical trust to tell someone they take Propecia to grow their hair. What is the problem?”

Bornstein said he was speaking now after seeing information that Jackson, who was called “The Candy Man” to vaguely prescribe pain medication as a White House doctor, will not return to his post after being considered the department of veterans.

“It’s like a celebration for me,” he said.

Jackson denied prescribing drugs.

Bornstein, 70, was Trump’s personal doctor for over 35 years.

During Trump’s presidential campaign, Bornstein wrote a letter declaring “unequivocal” that Trump would be the healthiest president in history. He called Trump’s health “surprisingly excellent”. The Trump campaign published the letter in December 2015.

In his recent interview, Bornstein told NBC News that the language of the letter was actually from Trump.

“He wrote it himself,” he said.

It is a story different from that of Bornstein told in 2016, when he said that he had written the note when a limousine sent by the candidate was waiting in front of his office.

“I think I picked up his kind of language and then interpreted it by myself,” he said.

The 2015 letter ended with a hyperbolic declaration that Trump is the healthiest president of all time. Bornstein says he interpreted the line as “black humor”.

“It was not supposed to be a serious comment,” Bornstein told NBC. “I suppose people do not have this sense of humor, but I have this sense of humor.”
