The bizarre remake of Ice Cube of a science fiction classic is the most watched film by Prime Video

Everyone surely knows the story of how, in 1938, the voice of Orson Welles filtered through the radios in the United States, announcing the invasion of the earth by extraterrestrial creatures and sending listeners in a panic (although the extent of this panic has been questioned in the following years). In reality, Welles made an adaptation of the HG Wells novel in 1898 “War of the Worlds”, but the news format of the show convinced certain listeners that the Martians had in fact arrived on our original planet. Since then, we have had several other less inducing adaptations of the science fiction classic, including the Steven Spielberg complex, an Atypical Blockbuster 2005. Now, however, Ice Cube made a film “War of the Worlds”, which in itself should have caused an unconventional radio broadcast of Welles. Instead, it seems that viewers cannot have enough of this film, which has also dismayed criticism at all levels.
The cinema features Ice Cube as an internal security terrorism analyst and Will Radford surveillance, a man who apparently has too much time on his hands when he spends most of his quarter work to watch his own children and reprimand them to play video games and not eat as healthy as he wishes. Soon, however, the extraterrestrial invasion begins, which, instead of seeing in all 4K glory, that a modern adaptation can offer, we see via Lo-Res clips taken by everyday citizens pointing their phones to the current carnage.
Yes, the 2025 “War of the Worlds” takes place on Ice Cube’s desktop computer (the film was shot during the pandemic) at the “Searching” of 2018, which also took place entirely on computer screens and was a real thrill to watch. Even the continuation, “Missing”, was a more disorderly but no less exciting follow -up. “The war of the worlds”, however, was anything but – at least according to criticism. At least, the prime video viewers seem to love him.
War of the Worlds invades privileged video charts
“War of the Worlds” comes from the frequency of the clip of the Eminem, Rich Lee, and presents us the frightening image of Ice Cube having access to the country’s security cameras. It is surely a more terrifying perspective than an extraterrestrial invasion, but “War of the Worlds” also asks the question, “Ice Cube is it charismatic enough for viewers to look 90 minutes from him by clicking around his office?” According to most criticism, the answer is a categorical “no”. But that did not prevent the leading video subscribers from distributing it seriously, sending it directly to the top of the most watched graphics of the streamers.
“War of the Worlds” was released via Universal Pictures on Prime Video on July 30, 2025 and became an instant success. According to FlixPatrol, a site that follows audience data on streaming platforms, the film made its debut on the first-rate video film records in 34 countries of the world on July 31, 2025. In addition, it hit number one in 11 of them, including the United States and Canada.
This is a strong start for the science fiction adaptation of Ice Cube, which is also tracing the number two in 10 other countries, which suggests that it will soon take first place in several other markets. At the time of the editorial staff, the film is not lower than the number four in any of the countries in which it is traced, proving moreover that Prime Video has a nascent blow on his hands. However, it remains to maintain its position at the top of the graphics
War of the Worlds crashed and burned with a criticism
First-rate video spectators may have joyfully broadcast “War of the Worlds”, but the film does not benefit from the best critical reception. In fact, the criticisms were ruthless in their evaluation of the film, with a variety which doubles it a “disastrous film tells of the classic Alien-Invasion of Hg Wells”, and a “good-looking thriller”. But perhaps the most blatant thing about “War of the Worlds” is the fact that, as Variety said, the film represents a little more than a “long commercial for everything related to Amazon”.
At one point, the future son -in -law of Will, Mark Goodman (Devon Bostick As), which leads a delivery truck of choice, asks Will to “place an official order on Amazon” to activate drones delivery (“the future of delivery, according to Mark). Distributed.
If you like manifest advertisements for products and services as part of your science fiction thrillers, then “War of the Worlds” could be for you. Hey, it seems to have worked for the film so far. Otherwise, despite its success as a graphic, it may not be the most recommended choice. There are, however, several Great Prime video shows which justify a subscription, including the Spin-Off series “Bosch” which recently resumed the first-rate video list.
