The first woman with Neuralink Brain Chip writes her name after 20 years

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Audrey Crews has not written his name for over 20 years, that is to say so far.

Thanks to a neuronink cerebral chip from Elon Musk, the crews only used his thoughts to scribble “Audrey” on a laptop screen. She shared the photo on X, amazing millions on the Internet and winning a cry of Musk himself.

At 16, the crews lost all the motor function. Now, at 39, she is part of the main study of Neuralink, who tests technology of the Brain-Competant (BCI) interface in humans. Its chip, located in its engine cortex, reads the brain signals and sends them to a computer. This allows him to move a cursor and type, using only his thoughts.

In his own words, “they pierced a hole in my skull and placed 128 wires in my motor cortex. The chip is about a quarter.”

Although the chip does not restore the movement, it gives it something powerful: digital autonomy. She shared a photo of her signature on X and wrote: “I tried to write my name for the first time in 20 years. I work there. LOL #NEURALINK.”

She expressed her gratitude to the medical team of the University of Miami health center. “They treated me as a VIP and are among the softest people I have ever met,” she added.

Musk confirmed his online success, writing: “Most people do not realize that this is possible.”

This single quote rocked the internet. The publication presenting its scribbled signature quickly became viral, with more than 2 million views. The crews said that the chip is for “telepathy only”, not mobility. But even this level of control can transform the lives of people with paralysis.

NeurableFounded by Musk in 2016, aims to help people with neurological conditions to connect new powerful ways with the digital world. The company develops BCIs that allow users to control devices using only their thoughts.

Although it is still at its beginnings, this technology already shows a potential that changes life. For the future, Neuralink plans to a future where IT controlled by reflection becomes a daily part of human life.

The Neuralink trial develops: P8 Nick Wray shares his experience of the brain chip

The crews are not alone in this trip. Another participant, Nick Wray (P8), shared his progress only a few days after his own implant activation.

“I have not had this level of digital autonomy for years,” he wrote.

Diagnosed with SLA, Wray described the implant to change his life. He considers this moment as both personal and historical, writing, “It is not lost for me that without SLA, I would never have been a candidate for this study. I sincerely believe that if ALS is the price of admission to an opportunity of this magnitude, you pay it; willingly, willingly and without hesitation.”

What it means for you

It’s not just about writing a name. This is what will follow. Neuralink’s brain chip works in real people. If you are wondering if the brain interfaces could one day let you control your phone, write an email or play a game without touching a screen, this future is getting closer.

Audrey Crews has rewritten more than her name. It has rewritten the limits of what is possible. With a chip for a quarter size, she became the first woman to control a computer using pure Thought. Its history is not only inspiring, it is a warning for the world of technology: the age of the machines fueled by the spirit arrives faster than expected.
