How the fantastic four put a new turn on Galactus and Silver Surfer (but what about Norrin Radd?)
The Fantastic Four: First steps This is not the first time that we have seen Marvel’s first family fighting with Galactus and the Silver Surfer. In 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver SurferThe two bad guys were strongly presented, although the devotor of the worlds was described as, finally, a cloud.
The fans left unhappy, even if the silver surfer was (mainly) portrayed in a comical way. Things have become a little bizarre when Doctor Doom stole the Norrin Radd board, however!
In the restart of Marvel Studios, after the warning of the surfer to Times Square, the team goes to the spacecraft of Galactus and confronts the devotor of the worlds. Despite the speculations that he could be a celestial, the villain confirms that he was also once a man, which corresponds to the comics. Reed Richards also reveals that he is prior to their universe, but that does not necessarily confirm speculation about the fact that Galactus is a multi -vulneous threat.
In fact, there is nothing to suggest that Galactus feeds on planets in a universe other than this one.
In an apparent wink at Earth x The comic strip, Galactus reveals that Franklin Richards being imbued with the cosmic power means that he will one day take his place, releasing the villain with his insatiable hunger. The Fantastic Four: First steps Do not really explore his past further than that, but it is not a great unidimensional villain, even if he is undeniably bad.
When he arrives on earth, Galactus stops and draws dirt, feeling it. Is it simply putting his appetite for the coming meal, or could it be an indication that there remains humanity in the cosmic vampire? It is to be discussed.
As for the silver surfer, Johnny Storm passes a decent part of the film decoding his language, and when she arrives on earth, he plays messages from his native world, Zenn-La. We learn that she had a husband and a child (the first is never shown), and that when Galactus came to her planet, she offered herself like her herald in exchange for the savings of her world.
In this way, his family would be safe, but hear these messages – and the sores of the planets which were finally devoured by Galactus – is enough to give it a change of heart.

As for the original Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd, he could be the anonymous husband of Shalla-Bal, but does not appear and is never mentioned by his name here. There is a good chance that Marvel Studios will save him for a future project, but the surfer of this film turns out to be a powerful presence.
In the end, the Fantastic Four: First steps“The approach of Galactus and Silver Surfer is both faithful to the comics and feels like a new approach that guarantees that this film does not simply repeat what we saw in 2007 or what was shown on the page. We would have liked to see a little more of this dynamic Herald, but the film does not suffer from not devoting too much time.
