Eight years after leaving the Los Angeles clippers, Chris Paul could potentially join the franchise he helped to invigorate.
Addressing journalists on Saturday, Lawrence Frank, the president of the clippers of basketball operations, said that the organization “considered it strongly” to bring the god from the signing of Bradley Beal.
Beal accepted an $ 11 million contract over two years with Los Angeles following a contract buyback with the Phoenix Suns. With Beal now on the list, the 20 -year -old veteran, Paul, who is a free agent, could return to the Clippers.
“What I would say of Chris is that he is a great player,” said Frank when he asked him if the Clippers would sing Pual. “It is a large mower. It obviously has some of the qualities that we [are looking for]. And, of course, we consider it strongly, strongly. “”
Paul joined Los Angeles before the 2011-12 season, finally guiding the Clippers to at least 51 victories in five of his six seasons there. As a franchise, Los Angeles won 50 or more times seven times. He ranks first in the history of the franchise with 4,023 assists and 2.2 interceptions per game.
The Clippers, however, have never progressed beyond the semi-finals of the Western Conference with Paul at the helm. During his career, Paul reached the NBA final once (in 2021 with the Phoenix Suns) and appeared in the final of the conference twice, including in 2018 as a member of the Houston Rockets.
With Beal now a mower – as well as the signatures of John Collins and Brook Lopez and James Harden’s re -signature – maybe Paul could help Los Angeles qualify for the first appearance in the franchise final.
All-Star 12 times, Paul was appointed All-NBA 11 times, including four times as a first team selection-three with the Clippers.
He collected on average 17 points and 9.2 assists throughout his career at the renowned temple, which lasted seven teams, more recently with the San Antonio Spurs last season. He also has an average of two interceptions per competition, which ranks 13th in the history of the NBA.
