A late goal from Josef Martinez has recovered a point for the earthquakes of San Jose, which attracted FC Dallas 2-2 on visit.

Martinez’s goal scored almost immediately after Petar Musa put Dallas in the 85th minute, sent the Quakes (7-8-8, 29 points) to a third draw in their last four games (0-1-3).

Dallas (5-10-7, 22 points) saw his sequence of four game defeats end, although his sequence without victory has reached five games (0-4-1). He only won once in his last 12 outings (1-7-4).

Martinez pulled the level of San Jose in the 86th minute, when he met the cross of the left foot of Jack Shakan with a perfect head in front of the goalkeeper of FC Dallas, Maarten Paes. It was Martinez’s ninth goal of the season and the first since he scored against Dallas on June 25.

Martinez’s equalizer canceled what would have been a match winner for Musa in the 85th minute, because he had a simple tap-in of the Ramiro wheeled collar which made 2-1 Dallas.

It was the second of the two goals of the evening for Musa, his first arrival in the third minute of the time of first half. He now has nine goals and six in his last eight games.

Ian Harkes opened the scoring in the 21st minute, because an effort well taken just beyond the top of the box made earthquakes 1-0.

But Musa made 1-1 in the first half, creating space for itself to find the back of the net after the attempted ball chipped by his teammate Patrickson Delgado struck the transverse bar.

Musa completed her splint in the 85th minute to break a 1-1 impasse, but Martinez’s goal a few seconds later meant that the two teams would leave the field with one point each.

He also spent the San Jose home record at 3-3-6 this season. Dallas moved to 4-3-5 on the road.

Earthquakes were also forced to substitution at first half, while defender Vitor Costa was stretched in the 34th minute after undergoing an apparent injury to the lower left leg.
