The volcano breaks out in Iceland spitting lava from the ground

A volcano has broken out in Iceland spitting flows of bright yellow and orange lava – the last of a series of volcanic events in the region in recent years.
Iceland has seen around 12 eruptions since the volcanic systems of the Reykjanes peninsula – near the capital Reykjavik – have become active in 2021.
According to the weather office of Iceland, the magma pierced by the earth’s crust created a large fissure estimated between 0.7 and 1 km (0.4 to 0.6 thousand) long.
Scientists have warned that eruptions in this region could continue for decades, even centuries.
