Real Madrid asks to delay the opening of Laliga due to CWC – Sources

Real Madrid asked Laliga his league opening match against Osasuna to be reprogrammed because of their involvement in the FIFA club World Cup, ESPN told.
Madrid must face Osasuna at Santiago Bernabéu on August 19.
Xabi Alonso’s team faces Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the Wednesday World Cup in New Jersey.
This means that Madrid will not have the minimum of six weeks – three weeks of rest and a minimum of three weeks of pre -season training – between tournaments that the Union of Spanish players (AFE) agreed with Laliga as well as with Atlético Madrid and Madrid, the two Spanish clubs in competition in the club World Cup.
The president of Laliga, Javier Tebas, was a vocal critic of the Extended Club World Cup, saying that it should be eliminated because it affects “the whole of the national leagues ecosystem, in particular in Europe”.
The players’ union informed ESPN that he was sending a letter on Monday to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Laliga, Real Madrid and Osasuna to remind them of the importance of the rest and an appropriate pre-season with regard to the health of players.
According to Cadena Ser, the decision will be made after the end of the semi-final of the Club World Cup.
