Ayush Mhatre Poor Run ends, Vaibhav Suryavanshi settles for 33

Ind vs Eng U-19: While Vaibhav Suryavanshi had a superb series with the bat, Ayush Mhatre was struggling to match his brilliance.
Having won the Youth ODI series already, Team India didn’t have pressure of performance against England in the fifth match of the series, yet the batting crumbled at Worcester, on Monday. And it wasn’t any regular failure, but quite a dramatic one, contrary to how the Indian team has been performing till now.
Ayush Mhatre’s Forgettable Series, Manages Only 27 Runs
Once again, skipper Ayush Mhatre failed to impress, and got out for 1 only. In the other three matches he played in the series, he returned with scores of 21, 0, and 5. That means the CSK opener, who was brilliant in IPL 2025, could only manage an average of 6.75.
On the other hand, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had been brilliant, and had smashed the fastest ton in the last match, eventually scoring 143, also seemed to struggle in the IND vs ENG fifth encounter. Despite starting at a brisk pace, Suryavanshi managed to score 33 from 42 deliveries, including three fours and two sixes. This innings also showed that the RR power-hitter can also be tamed.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Too Good for U-19 Bowlers
Scores of 45, 48, 86 and 143 in the other matches of the series mean, he finished with an average of 71. As far as the overall match is concerned, after opting to bat first, the Indian team kept losing wickets regularly. The top order failed completely, giving England a chance to salvage some pride.
Now, upon the completion of the ODI series, IND vs ENG U-19 teams will also battle it out in two Tests, starting from July 12. The first match will be held at Kent County Cricket Ground, followed by July 20 match at Chelmsford.
