A pizza oven for the rest of us
Doing pizza looks easy, but this is not the case. It is surprisingly delicate. This is one of the reasons why I have avoided following this path before. I hesitated to buy an expensive pizza oven, only for it to have, unused. How could I know the right temperature or the right duration? How much propane would I need? There were a lot of questions that gave me reasons to take a break.
The current P model P greatly contributes to simplifying the manufacturing experience of pizza. First of all, it is electric and can be used with a standard 110 V socket, inside or outside. Not having to worry about fuel is a huge relief. The oven can draw a lot of power, so you will need to make sure that the circuit on which it is found is not overloaded. I have a capricious circuit that triggers frequently, but I had no problem with this and the model P.
In terms of some of the logistical questions, the oven is delivered with a few temperature presets for New York, Napolitan, Frozen, Crust and Croiling, with timers for pizza styles. The connected and intelligent aspect of Wi-Fi allows you to manage these elements of your phone if you wish, but you don’t need it. I kept making pizzas and I didn’t have the chance to chat, but Fajitas could also be an addition of a fun regular dinner.
The beauty of the P model is its simplicity. Although it is high technology, there is not much. A pizza stone is on a metal frame that can slide in and out of the oven. And a large button that twists and can be in a hurry in the middle of a giant display to show time and temperature. Anyone can use this device.
The pizza manufacturing process is all in the preparation work
Overall, I made decent pizzas using the P. model in fact, all that I would consider well. But when I consider experience and results, the last thing in my mind is the real oven. He did his job perfectly and played exactly as I expected. During the dozen pizzas or more that I have cooked, it was almost invisible in the process.
Instead of competing with the product, I spent my time worrying about dough, flour, types of ingredients and details that transform a correct pizza into a very satisfactory pizza. In fact, the time when I made a little smoke from the rear of the unit was because I had a little too much flour on the stone. The food has always gone well.
The P model takes about 15 minutes to warm up in New York style at 635 degrees and an additional five minutes for the warmer Neapolitan style.
Once it has reached the temperature, the timer is ready to leave and only needs a tap on the central dial to start. Whenever I used it, the oven worked evenly. The heating has not burned one side or the other. Even when I occasionally uttered a pizza further backwards or left it right at the opening, the crust always golden in a fairly uniform way.
The first time I made pizzas, I used the application to adjust the temperature and start it. But after that, I favored orders on the devices. They were too simple and easy not to reach.
The drawbacks I have met are minor. For example, the length of the 42 -inch cord is generous, but I could have used a few more inches for the location where I used the oven. In addition, sliding the pizza stone on its metal rail in and outside was not too smooth. I especially left it in place. You will want to add a thin pizza skin to your collection to bring and out the food in and go out without seam.
Should a pizza oven be connected?
If there is one thing I am not sure, it is the need for Wi-Fi and a mobile application. I love it when products have a companion application because often it makes it easier to control them and offers extensive parameters. But in the case of the P model, I am not sure that it is necessary.
Inside the application, available on iPhone and Android, there are five presets and the selection of one immediately changes them on the oven. Normally, I am a great supporter of the notifications of connected devices, but the cooking time with pizza is so short. The reason why I like the timer on my connected counter oven is because they are usually for at least 20 minutes, or up to an hour or more.
The longest preset timer lasts six minutes on the P. There is not much time to leave the room and start doing something else before the pizza or the grill is finished.
As low as I may seem on the Wi-Fi connection, I am not. I’m glad it is there and this aspect works well. I would simply recommend that you temper your expectations for this specific feature. Making pizzas can be a quick and disorderly operation that may not have room to use smartphone commands.
Should you buy the current P model?
The current P model is a good pizza oven. Its size is limited to the manufacture of 12 inch pizzas, but this limitation also keeps it compact enough to adapt on a kitchen counter. I am not sure that its Wi-Fi connection and its companion application are a major reason to consider buying this oven, but the functionality does not in any way interfere its use. If you do not find yourself using the technological aspect, you will not be penalized. And who knows, maybe it will be more useful once your pizza manufacturing skills are composed after several months.
The reasons to consider the P model are linked to the simplicity of the device to be used. It is a versatile machine that can make anyone a pizza chief, as long as you spend a little time getting the correct ingredients.
