Why the WNBA has a great opportunity to proclaim the Conservative Evangel – Redstate

I read with interest the position of my colleague Brad Essex the other day concerning Caitlin Clark and the brutal treatment that his alleged peers in the WNBA submitted it in most of the games she plays. Although Brad did an excellent job to detail how the WNBA and its matching players – many of which are bathed daily in the bitterness syrup on the way in which the cruel world rejected them not because of the pigmentation of the skin, but rather a determined incapacity to be sympathetic human beings – are fiercely determined to demolish the only player who has given them popular attention and a relevance.

I come from two different angles. First, there is a family story that taught me for a long time tolerance and acceptance, where generally, a member of Generation Boot would have cried “impure!” My father had three sisters, two and a half complete. The two complete sisters lived together in various apartments and houses in San Francisco over the years before retiring in the suburbs. Dad regularly wrapped mom and whatever the assortment of their five children at home at the time for a Saturday or Sunday trip to the city, which has always been a treat. The youngest sister was once engaged, but her fiancé died during the Second World War during the Batan death. The oldest has never been married but has always had one, we will say, a special friend who, if I remember correctly, was a charming and quite pleasant woman. It was only in many years later that I learned what was going on, when I went completely through such things despite my fervent embrace of evangelical Christianity in adolescence. I always believe, and I am always quite the state of mind that even if yes, the Bible says what she says and her word is her word, God is much more qualified to regulate these things than me.

Second, as a large and vast majority of my resident life in the San Francisco Bay region, I have seen and I see life here through a prism entirely different from the hypotheses made on the basis of the media bytes and to throw assorted cultural clichés. We are not all progressives denied. We could question the mental health of those of us who are conservatives without shame to stay. However, we tend to consider ourselves as the modern equivalent of those that God has mentioned to Elijah as being reserved for himself and who had not tilted the knee to Baal. We, the native Californians, are an obstinate lot.

Adding to this is a career path which, over the decades (Ouch), has meanded from the world of retail for businesses and retail. Currently, my current judgment and, hopefully, before retirement is a sports articles store which, in addition to the sports equipment and outdoor adventure equipment, carries a good amount of goods for local university and professional teams. Which, despite the best efforts in the city of Oakland to run everyone out of the city, there is a high number. Our current bestseller? Make a supposition. 49ers? No! Warriors? No! Giants? UH-UH!

It is the Golden State Valkyries.

As I have already mentioned, the Valkyries are unique among the WNBA franchises. On the field, despite a list of liquid due to injuries and players with commitments to continental tournaments abroad, the Valkyries are currently greater than 0.500. A rare achievement for an expansion deductible in all sports. Although it was not blessed with an abundance of elite shooters who can cover a multitude of basketball sins by draining three-point shots as they are layups, the Valkyries play a basketball brand emphasizing who has the best opportunity to score, and, when he has the greatest desire to make fun of his statistics.

Since the interaction with customers is my favorite part of the work (what, you thought it was stumbled through the entrance doors at four in the morning in search of an IV coffee before starting my daily tasks?), I spend a lot of time chatting with people who buy in our Valkyries section. It is a wide range of humanity. All colors. All sexes. All preferences. The dads buy a shirt for their daughter in preparation to go together to a game. Son who buy a sweatshirt for their mom and a hat for themselves. The husbands and wives, already adorned with their Warriors equipment, picking up something in purple and black on the way to Chase Center in San Francisco, where they will unite their forces and their voices with more than 18,000 other fans. The Valkyries sold each home game this year, regardless of the opponent. And no, it is not because the legendary Golden State-Connecticut rivalry finally rekindled. The Valkyries benefit from a fans support which is the desire for all the other WNBA teams. Even Indiana, who has a player with No. 22 that I hear is pretty good.

Okay, so what has it to do with conservatism?

I firmly believe that Paul’s words to the Colossians are just as applicable to the spread of the conservative evangel that they are to proclaim the good news of Jesus:

Be wise in the way you act towards foreigners; Take the best side of each opportunity. Let your conversation always be full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you know how to answer everyone.

Cultural consciousness is an essential element of truth. We see daily the lamentable results of the conservatives who abandoned higher education in the madmen. Completely involuntarily, the WNBA presented us with a tool to reach several groups with the truth: it is the conservatives, not the bitter progressives, who not only make the WNBA possible but are its most fervent supporters, even if they are indirectly. Consider these facts:

• It is the conservatives who are most fiercely opposed to the transgender invasion of female places and female sports.
• It is the conservatives who without hesitation the Scott meadows of this world in their ranks without program or bias.
• It is the conservatives who reject group thought and requests for conformity, continuing rather political policies, platforms and practices that allow people to live their lives in freedom and security.

If you don’t like WNBA, very good. It is not everyone’s Cappuccino cup. Unlike progressives, we, conservatives, have no problem with people who appreciate things not under our sphere of interest. I like to look at the Valkyries. I want others to do the same if they are so inclined. I also savor the opportunity that the team presents to mention to their fans that, as regards who is responsible for the opportunity to establish Kate Martin and Company, it is much more men and women in power than the media tell you to hate that the hair gel and the associates of the governor.
