First alert Weather: Yellow alert for possible gustful storms and heavy rains on Friday

Rochester, NY – A yellow alert remains in place for a stormy weather on Friday, especially during the afternoon and in the evening. A hot front through the early Friday morning region will pump in a weaker and unstable air, which will probably lead to at least a few storms. Temperatures increased in the 80s and dew points in the 1970s. There are still questions about the strength of these storms, and their specific calendar, but our best chance of stronger storms seems to be during the afternoon hours with advanced heating and in finger lakes. The air will be a little more stable under the wind of the Lake Érié, keeping the chances of the storm at the bottom west of Rochester. If and when storms develop, they could produce isolated burst winds and the potential of heavy rains and localized floods. A cold front moves until Saturday, with a few showers and storms continuing in the morning in the early afternoon, before cleaning the rest of the afternoon. Again, the finger lakes will have the best chances of a few storms with showers. Thus, the second half of Saturday should see good weather, and it will continue on Sunday. Sunday will showcase a partially cloudy sky to most of the time and temperatures in the 80s with lower humidity.
