Gavin Newsom urges JD Vance to meet forest victims during the visit of Los Angeles

Gavin Newsom urged Vice-President JD Vance to meet forest victims during his trip to Los Angeles on Friday.

In a video published at noon on X, the Governor of California said that the vice-president should also speak with President Donald Trump to obtain help in the event of a disaster for those who need it in the state. The appeal came in the midst of increased tensions between the governor and the potus as they continue their legal battle on the sending of the National Guard to Los Angeles to repress the demonstrations linked to an increased ice raid in the city.

Watch Newsom’s video below:

“Mr. Vice-President, we read that you enter California, which is important. It has been months now that some of the most devastating forest fires in American history have occurred. Tens of thousands of completely torn lives. I hope you have the opportunity to spend quality time with some of the victims and families of the Palisades and also spend a little time in Altadena, which is incredibly important, “said Newsom.

“It is also important too – and I think it honestly – that you sit down with the President of the United States,” said Newsom, “who a few days ago, suggested that these American citizens may not obtain support that other citizens get in all this country in terms of help in the event of a disaster. I hope we are doing this.

According to the Vance office, the vice-president should hold briefings with DOD, DOD, internal security, Ice, LAPD and California Highway Patrol managers to approach demonstrations, raids and the federal presence continues
