Sacramento, California – – Nick Kurtz dominated the ninth round for the second consecutive day and athletics beat the Astros of Houston 3-1 Monday evening.
Brent Rooker attracted an in mind against Bryan Abreu (1-3) to open the ninth and reach safely in 12 consecutive games at home. Kurtz followed with his seventh Home Run of the 447 -foot season on the right field wall.
Kurtz also struck a ninth round Homer on Sunday to rally athletics to a 3-2 victory and a three-game scan at Kansas City.
Athletics has won four consecutive games and now has 7-4 in the last 11 after losing 20 of the previous 21.
The Astros managed a sequence of five consecutive victories after entering the winners in 16 of their last 22.
The JT Ginn athletics lift withdrew the side of the eighth and Mason Miller (1-2) added two sticks to the stick to the ninth. Leaving Mitch Spence granted seven strokes and a deserved point in five rounds.
