At least 11 dead, several missing

At least 11 people died and several are still missing after the sudden floods hit San Antonio, Texas.
The violent storms on Wednesday and Thursday forced cars outside the roads, pushing certain drivers in a stream, according to a local CBS, the American press partner of the BBC.
The San Antonio fire service said the rescuers were looking for at least four people missing in the floods.
The officials said that the number of deaths could change and that their research and recovery efforts will take days.
The fire service has deployed K9 units and requested additional assistance from an urban research and rescue force on a state scale.
The authorities carried out more than 70 water resumes on Friday afternoon, according to the city’s website. At least four of those rescued were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, CBS reported.
Three of the people who died in the floods were identified – Martha de la Torre Rangel, Matthew Angel Tufono and Victor Manuel Macias Castro.
They were stuck in their cars near the Perrin Beitel district around 05:00, local time (11:00 GMT) in the middle of the heavy rains Thursday morning when the water rushed, CBS reported, citing firefighters.
A woman, Angel Richards, told the subsidiary of CBS Kens 5 that her husband, Stevie, was about to work when he called to say that he was taken in flood waters.
“It’s difficult because I was on the phone when it happened, and then not to have a lot of communication, to see my car, it’s devastating for me,” said Richards. “No one can tell me:” Hey, that’s what’s going on. “”
The mayor of San Antonio, Ron Nirenberg, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the floods.
“Our hearts are with the families of those we have lost for the sudden floods of this week and the families who continue to look for their loved ones,” said Nirenberg on X.
Joaquin Castro, a representative of the Democratic Chamber of San Antonio, described the sudden floods of “tragedy”.
“My prayers are with families and relatives of the victims of the sudden floods of this week,” he said on X.
“San Antonio is still standing together when the tragedy strikes and we will continue to do so while our community cries this loss.”
