David Muir’s $7 million lakeside retreat revealed as neighbors share what he’s really like

ABC World News Tonight host David Muir splits his time between his New York City apartment and his historic $7 million lakefront home in the upstate town of Skaneateles.

When he’s off-screen, David Muir lives a secluded lakeside life.

The ABC World News Tonight host, 52, divides his time between his New York apartment and his historic lakefront home in Skaneateles, an upscale town in New York’s Finger Lakes region. In 2019, he realized his “lifetime dream” by purchasing the property.

“This work takes me all over the world and I can’t imagine a better place to catch my breath,” David said during an interview with Kelly Ripa, one of his close friends. While many of his fans know of his close circle in Hollywood, very few so far know who he spends his time with at his upstate home. This comes after David posted an explosive 4-word message as he walked away from the ABC office on air.

Cheryl Foster, one of his neighbors, suggested that David might have someone special in his life. “I know he has a dog,” she shared, before getting defensive when asked if he had a partner.

“It’s no one’s business,” Cheryl replied.

From the outside, David’s white house appears to have at least three stories. Black shutters surrounded each window on the sides of the white, pillared entrance.

Built in 1890, the 4,300-square-foot property has six bedrooms, two kitchens, three bathrooms and a fireplace. It also features a swimming pool and classic architecture.

He purchased the house in 2019 for $7 million.

The host is from upstate New York. He grew up in Syracuse, where he began his career as a news anchor.

When he was young, David visited local newsrooms with his father, Ronald, before becoming an intern at the age of 14.

“I was a real nerd,” he admitted on Live with Kelly and Mark. “In the garden, everyone was playing. And I was there too, but then I was like, ‘I have to go in, it’s news time!’ So I would go in and watch the news.

“I’m grateful to everyone in this newsroom because that’s what we all need to remember, he was just a kid with a dream, and they let me show up,” he said. “And there was a new news director, I came in when there was no boss. That was the only reason a kid that age could come in.”

His early experiences in writing left him with a perspective he still uses today.

“They convinced the new boss to let me continue, so I’m grateful to them. And I always try to remember that when people write to us or contact us,” added the host.

After graduating from Ithaca College, he got his start as a reporter working for WTVH-TV, nine years before joining ABC News full time.

It comes after Muir viewers fumed ‘we trusted you’ as he released shocking new revelation live on air.
