“It’s the story of a witch…” Science Saru in Japan has revealed the first teaser for an animated film titled Jaadugar: a witch in Mongolia directed by animation filmmaker Abel Gongora (from Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye and “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off”). One of the iconic studio’s next animation projects Science Saru (Inu-Oh, inner colors, ride your wave). It’s the story of a witch who played with a vast continent. The film is expected to debut on television in Japan in July 2026 – no theaters for that. Set in the 13th century, during the reign of Emperor Genghis Khan and his march through the Mongol Empire, a young girl disrupts his plans in Iran after being educated by scholars. This is the story of Jaadugarthe “witch of Mongolia”. When he arrives, “his quiet days end and the wheels of destiny begin to turn.” The final voice cast has not yet been announced. This style of animation reminds me of the very pretty Little Amélie animated film also released this year. Stay tuned for any updates on Jaadugar leading to its release next year.
