The onus will be on the opening players to get the team off to a good start and also make meaningful contributions individually.
The pair of Sam Harper, who scored an attacking century in the previous match to get his team over the line, and Joe Clack will be tasked with doing their job to the best of their abilities.
A good start given by the openers will allow the Stars’ middle-order batters to take advantage and put pressure on the opposition bowlers both by batting first and chasing.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Campbell Kellaway, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis (c), Hilton Cartwright, Tom Curran, Jonathan Merlo
The opening hitters will be followed by a middle order who have shown good form in the first three matches and would like to do the same against the Thunder, who also come into the match after a victory against the Heat.
The Stars’ middle order features a good mix of young and experienced batters, all of whom have the ability to turn the match in their team’s favor in any situation.
Names like captain Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Hilton Cartwright provide much-needed experience and stability for the Stars in the middle of their batting innings.
Campbell Kellaway, the young batter, also impressed everyone with his smart batting in the first three matches as he played some match-winning innings for his team and would look to do the same in the next match.
Bowlers: Mitchell Swepson, Haris Rauf, Peter Siddle
When it comes to the Melbourne Stars bowling attack, they have a total of seven bowling options, which provides much-needed flexibility to the bowling lineup.
Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, who both have a wealth of experience when it comes to playing T20 cricket, were also able to chip in with the ball, with Maxwell bowling the first over of the innings and Stoinis controlling things in the middle overs.
Apart from Maxwell and Stoinis, the Stars can also count on the ace of Haris Rauf and the experience of Peter Siddle and Tom Curran in the fast bowling department.
Mitchell Swepson has been chosen to look after the Stars’ spin bowling department.
