Australia claims 34th Ashes Series victory against England

Australia retained the Ashes urn by beating England in the Ashes series 3-0, with two matches remaining. The hosts won the third Test in Adelaide to win the series for the 34th time in its long history.
England’s late fight
England showed late resistance on the final day of the third Ashes, but Australia remained calm and sealed an 82-run victory. After a massive total of 435, England resumed play at 207 for 6. Jamie Smith, Will Jacks and Brydon Carse kept hopes alive for a while, adding crucial runs and forcing Australia to work hard.
However, the Australian bowlers did not back down. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon took three wickets each in England’s second innings. Starc’s spells at key moments ensured England never fully broke free despite fighting back.
Australia strike back after lunch
In the morning session, Smith attacked the bowlers putting them under pressure. He helped England cross 250 and anchored the innings. He had a quiet half-century, but his dismissal ended a crucial partnership and shifted the momentum back in Australia’s favor.
After lunch, Jacks and Carse worked on the remaining objective, closing the gap. However, Starc came back at the right time to break the stand. Josh Tongue’s dismissal sealed the match and sparked celebrations for the hosts.
Lack of partnership hurts England
Australia won the match thanks to contributions from both bat and ball. Alex Carey scored a brilliant century in the first innings, while Usman Khawaja and Mitchell Starc added important runs. In the second innings, Travis Head played a superb knock of 170, with Carey again providing good support.
England showed fighting spirit, with Ben Stokes, Zak Crawley and the lower-order batters putting in effort. However, they were unable to build great partnerships when necessary. In the end, Australia were more consistent, securing a clear victory and keeping the Ashes at home once again.
