Ciara to perform at first TikTok Awards

Ciara is set to headline TikTok’s first TikTok Awards, the platform revealed The Hollywood Reporter, days before the ceremony takes place in Los Angeles this week.

With these awards, TikTok hopes to fill a gap in recognition of the digital creator ecosystem. Hosted live at the Hollywood Palladium on December 18, the TikTok Awards will be broadcast live on the platform on December 18 and will also be streamed on Tubi, where they will also be available on demand the following day. The red carpet will begin on TikTok Live at 5 p.m. and the awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

“There’s nothing like performing for a community that loves movement, music and expression as much as I do,” Ciara said in a statement. “The TikTok platform plays an important role in entertainment. It is one of the most influential platforms in the world. The TikTok Awards aim to celebrate that spirit, and I am honored to take the stage for the first-ever show in the United States.”

Besides Ciara, TikTok has also revealed other presenters for the awards, with TikTok creators REI AMI, Tan France, Tefi Pessoa, Justin Danger, Patrick Starrr, Carter Gregory and Ashby Florence all confirmed. They join a previously announced list of presenters that includes Paris Hilton, Bethenny Frankel and Trixie Mattel, among others.

TikTok isn’t the only big social platform getting in on the awards game this year, as rival Instagram also unveiled a new program called Instagram Rings earlier this year to recognize the platform’s biggest creators, selected by a panel of judges including Spike Lee, Marc Jacobs and Instagram head Adam Mosseri.
