Sydney Sweeney talks ‘silence’ on Jean ad: ‘I’m against hate’

Sydney Sweeney is once again addressing her viral American Eagle jeans ad, saying she is “against hate and division” and does not “support the views some people have chosen to link to the campaign.”

Some argued that the campaign slogan, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans”, was a play on words between “great jeans” and “great genes”, and was instead intended to promote eugenics. The ad sparked so much backlash online at the time that it prompted American Eagle to respond, issuing a statement that read in part: “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans is and always has been about jeans.
