With the release of the prequel trilogy, Lucasfilm altered the original films to include CG and other elements that brought them more in line with the new versions.
Unfortunately, parts of the story were also changed in the 1977 film and have long been a bane for fans, such as Greedo shooting first and the insertion of Jabba the Hut. And anyone who has picked up the films since then, or started watching the prequel or sequel trilogies, has never been able to experience the original in its purest form.
Even with subsequent video, DVD and Blu-ray releases, the changes persisted and there was no way to access the original film.
Will the restored version of Star Wars (1977) be available on Disney+

However, this is just speculation, and there is no confirmation that the original cut of the film will be available anywhere other than select theaters participating in the 50th anniversary celebration. Star Wars’ humble beginnings.
