I used the Logitech G502 Hero for many years. It was one of my favorite gaming mice of all time, but it was still a little too heavy for my liking (it weighs 121g without any of the optional weights added).
Switching from the G502 to a lightweight mouse like the Razer Cobra Pro (77g) was night and day for fast swiping movements (think rotating 180 degrees in Counter-strike), but I missed the comfortable embrace of the G502’s thumb rest. I also wanted something just a little heavier for everyday use.
This is where the Razer Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed comes in. It takes all the best elements of both mouse models and combines them into one: a slightly lighter design (110g) than the G502 with a textured thumb rest and fantastic performance for a wireless device.
You can increase the DPI up to 18,000, although I don’t think you’ll ever realistically achieve this. I carry between 800 and 1,600 depending on what I’m doing, and going much higher seems like overkill. But if you’re limited on desktop space or want the best possible performance, a higher DPI makes sense.
The Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed also features an incredible battery life of up to 535 hours on a single charge. I can use mine for a little over a week without it tiring me out, and that’s somewhere between hours of gaming and daily navigation use.
It uses a single AA battery, which doesn’t feel as premium as a built-in, rechargeable device. But for less than $50 during the Cyber Monday sales, it’s far from a bad compromise.
And of course, if you must have that brilliant RGB, the scroll wheel is Chroma compatible so you can add that touch of custom style to your setup.
