Zach Braff is back in first images from the reboot

“I’m back, baby!” exclaims Dr. JD Dorian (Zach Braff) in the first teaser for the new Scrubs series. The reboot comes 15 years after JD said goodbye to Sacred Heart to take a new job as a residence director to be closer to his son. The show released the teaser Tuesday, which also features OG cast members Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke, on its Instagram account. You can watch it below.
From original series creator Bill Lawrence, the reboot received a straight-to-series order from ABC in July. According to the official paper, it will follow JD Dorian (Braff) and Christopher Turk (Faison), who are working together for the first time in a long time – medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their relationship has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart, and a few surprises along the way.
Lawrence executive produces the new series, with Scrubs alumni Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra as showrunners and executive producers. Hobert was a writer, executive producer and consulting producer on Scrubs; Batra was a writer and story editor. Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer will also direct the reboot’s EP on behalf of Lawrence’s production company, Doozer.
THE Scrubs original series aired on NBC for seven seasons from 2001 to 2008, followed by two additional seasons on ABC in 2009-2010.
Lawrence previously told Deadline that he sees Scrubs 2.0 as a hybrid between a revival, revisiting the original characters a decade and a half after the original series ended, and a reboot, bringing back the original concept with new surgical interns.
Scrubs received two Primetime Emmys and a Peabody Award.
The reboot premieres February 25 on ABC and will stream on Hulu.
