Most recent Xbox Game Pass The price increase was one of the most unwelcome announcements in the gaming industry this year, which is saying something. $19.99 per month for Game Pass Ultimate was already a lot, but it seems practically quaint compared to the new $29.99 fee. Luckily, a current Amazon deal will let you slash both of those prices.
Currently, Amazon charges $18.99 per month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimatea dollar off the old price of $19.99. This matches the discount GameStop offers to Pro members, but the Amazon deal doesn’t require Prime or any other paid membership. While Amazon doesn’t offer a timeline for the deal, it could easily disappear after Cyber Monday.

Outside of the Amazon deal, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate still costs $19.99 in most storefronts. While Xbox Direct purchases immediately switched to the new model, retailers like Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy have stayed at the old price for now. Additional discounts are less common, however, and Amazon appears to be the only store to offer one at the moment.
There’s also no way of knowing if the $19.99 price at retailers will last forever. GameStop announced plans to maintain the price immediately after the increase, so hopefully at least one store will resist the $29.99 change for a long time. However, without any knowledge of the true cost to retailers, it is difficult to say whether this is a sustainable proposition.
Be quick or miss
This deal won’t last forever
For what it’s worth, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offers a lot of value, with access to a huge library of games that includes many day one releases. Right now, that means accessing recent hits like Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33, Hollow Knight: Song of SilkAnd Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
The subscription’s value at around $240 per year depends on how much you plan to use it for, not to mention the new official price of $360. If Amazon’s $228 offer seems better, it’s time to act.
The offer is clearly attractive to many Xbox users, as the Ultimate subscription is currently listed as the site’s top seller when it comes to Xbox games, consoles, and accessories. Xbox, be careful, people like to pay less. Then again, maybe the price increase is working exactly as expected. When the new Xbox Game Pass the price is so scary, a small discount off the old price seems so much more exciting.
